Objective To analyze the effect of one-visit endodontic therapy on chronic apical periodontitis. Methods A total of 80 patients with chronic apical periodontitis were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received conventional endodontictherapy, and the observation group received one-visit endodontic therapy. The therapeutic effect and related clinical indexes were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate in the observation group was 97.50%,which was higher than that of 80.00%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The visual analogue scale(VAS)score was(1.05±0.30)points in the observation group, which was lower than that of(1.80±0.50)points in the control group;the number of return visits was(1.50±0.50)visits in the observation group, which was less than that of(3.50±0.50)visits in the control group;the pain duration was(1.50±0.80)d in the observation group, which was shorter than that of(3.50±1.20)d in the control group;the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with the conventional endodontic therapy, the one-visit endodontic therapy has a significant effect for the treatment of chronic apical periodontitis, which can effectively reduce the pain after treatment, shorten the pain time, and reduce the number of return visits. The overall advantage is outstanding.
