The existing literature has plenty of discussion about the mental health and stress coping of frontline medical personnel in the fight against COVID-19, but the process of their transition from the original workplace to the crisis situation and then from the crisis situation back to the original workplace has received relatively little attention. Based on oral investigations and participatory observation, this paper examines the transition process from the perspective of rite of passage. The division of space and the grasp of time in the fight against COVID-19 aim to enable medical personnel to develop gradual and stable psychological adaptability. The main purpose of the isolation before returning to the original workplace is to eliminate the danger in them, relieve the tension between danger and communion, and welcome the real moment of reunion. Frontline medical personnel is each a collection of multiple identities, and the particular experience is not only a body skill exercise, but also an important occasion for them to re-understand and sublimate their profession and life value.
