The COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading all over the world. It not only has an impact on the daily lives of citizens, but also has a major impact on the global sports landscape and the sports industry, leading to the cancellation of a number of professional sports competitions worldwide. The Olympics, the most watched by athletes, have also been postponed. Due to the speed and mode of epidemic transmission, the overall preparation for the Olympic Games has become doubly difficult. In this context, combined with the author’s personal experience of participating in the Tokyo Olympic Games, this article describes the difficulties faced by the Chinese swimming delegation and the preventive measures that the athletes need to prepare, especially the special difficulties faced by disabled athletes in large events and the relevant solutions. It is hoped that these experiences and suggestions will bring inspiration to the preparation for participating in large-scale events under the normal situation of epidemic prevention and control.
