摘要
金融素养和教育投资是微观家庭改变阶层固化和消弭贫富差距的关键。家庭教育投资与金融投资类似,也是跨期风险决策,且受到家庭经济收入约束。本文使用“中国家庭金融调查”的数据,探究家庭金融素养对教育投资决策的影响,实证研究发现:金融素养提升会促进家庭教育投资,但对城乡和不同收入家庭的影响存在显著差异,正向效应在城市与高收入家庭中更加显著;金融素养会弱化家庭的教育短视和功利性,对有利于子女综合素质和长远发展的“兴趣类”教育投资作用更明显。此外,异质性结果从侧面反映出教育“再生产”效应仍然存在,亟需利用外部政策缓解教育失衡问题。本文可以为金融素养影响教育投资决策、打破社会再生产和推动共同富裕提供家庭层面的微观证据与政策思考。
Financial literacy and investment in education are keys for households to changing class solidification and reducing the gap between rich and poor at the micro level. Similar to financial investment, household investment in education is also an intertemporal risk decision and is constrained by household income. Using data from the China Household Finance Survey(CHFS),this paper explores the impact of household financial literacy on educational investment behavior, and finds that financial literacy promotes household educational investment, but there are significant differences between urban and rural households and between households with different incomes, and the positive effect is more pronounced in urban and high-income households;financial literacy weakens households’ educational myopia and utilitarianism, and has a more pronounced effect on "interest-based" educational investment that is beneficial to children’s overall quality and long-term development. In addition, the heterogeneous results reflect that the "reproduction" effect of education still exists, and there is an urgent need to use external policies to alleviate the imbalance in education. This paper provides micro-level evidence and policy considerations on the impact of financial literacy on educational investment decisions, breaking social reproduction and promoting common prosperity at the household level.
