摘要
突破性技术创新是提高企业竞争能力、提升产业发展水平的主要动力。而京东方作为半导体显示产品的领军企业正是借助突破性技术创新,成功扭亏为盈、实现半导体显示技术全面布局。通过深入剖析京东方的成长历程展开探索性单案例研究,归纳总结突破性技术创新在这一过程中的作用机制和过程模式。研究发现,当企业发展为拥有雄厚创新资源的领军企业时,更有能力推进突破性技术创新,而突破性技术创新的涌现又可以推动领军企业进一步形成短期难以超越的竞争优势,二者相辅相成、相互促进。研究结论为企业明晰自身所处发展阶段及是否应该将发展重点转移到突破性技术创新提供了依据,同时也为企业提高动态能力提供了建议。
Breakthrough technological innovation affects the core competitiveness of an organization,and has a significant impact on the market share and business performance of an enterprise.Hence,it tends to be intensive competition among enterprises.As the main entity of innovation,enterprises have periodic differences of capital capacity,talent reserve and technological infrastructure level,etc.,the role of breakthrough technological innovation in the growth of enterprises also shows dynamic changes.However,current researches mainly focus on analyzing which of the two plays a more prominent role in promoting breakthrough technological innovation by comparing the entering enterprises and the existing enterprises,and lack of exploring the formation mechanism of breakthrough technological innovation from the perspective of enterprise growth.Exploring the formation mechanism of enterprises to achieve breakthrough technological innovation is essentially a question of"how".Therefore,in the absence of quantitative data,a theory guided single case study method can better accomplish this task.BOE,a leading enterprise in the display field,has been absorbing and learning advanced technologies since its establishment,broken through foreign technological blockade eventually,and continuously achieved breakthrough technological innovation.It has grown into a leading enterprise in the display field step by step,ranking TOP 20 in terms of international patent applications for three consecutive years.To sum up,it is an ideal case to analyze the role of breakthrough technological innovation in the growth of enterprises.Therefore,following the step of single case analysis,the growth process of BOE was divided into different period according to its development data.Then,by sorting out the patent data,it is easy to sort out the number of patents applied for by the enterprise every year and the change of R&D capability in each period.At the same time,by comparing the top 1%of patents cited within 5 years and IPC classification number,the brea
