摘要
礼学是郭嵩焘学术的重要组成部分,探讨其礼学思想对于认识郭嵩焘的思想至为重要。郭嵩焘对汉宋礼学或批评,或肯定,不一而足,而他对待《礼记》注疏、朱熹《大学章句》《中庸章句》的态度,折射出的是其时代学术思想的取向。在郭嵩焘的观念中,礼意在逻辑上优先于礼仪。在此观念之下,他主张不同的时代有不同的礼仪,而礼意却始终如一。其认为“俗”与“道”是相违异的。尽管如此,由于风俗与人们的生活密切相关,与礼也有着密切关系,因此在制礼之时不得不考虑风俗。在英国伦敦期间,郭嵩焘在与英国人的交往中集中体现了“礼从宜,使从俗”的外交理念。在郭嵩焘出使的日记中,其在记述西洋礼仪时,经常与中国的传统礼乐文化相比较。
The study of rites is an important part of Guo Songtao’s academic work.It is very important for us to understand Guo Songtao’s thought to probe into his thought of rites.Guo Songtao criticized or affirmed the etiquette of Han and Song dynasties.In Guo Songtao’s concept,the meaning of etiquette is logically prior to etiquette.Different times have different etiquette,but the meaning of etiquette is consistent.Guo Songtao believed that“Customs”and“Tao”were contrary to each other.However,because customs were closely related to people’s lives and rites,they had to consider customs when making rites.During his stay in London,England,Guo Songtao embodied the diplomatic concept of“propriety follows propriety and custom”in his contacts with the British people.In Guo Songtao’s diary he described western rites usually in comparison with Chinese traditional culture of rites and music.
