摘要
皮尔斯存在图是一种典型的图式逻辑,被学界纳入哲学逻辑的范畴。由于皮尔斯并没有最终完成存在图的构造,且其作品中的描述不够清晰,因此,学者可以从不同视角对存在图进行解读。存在图的这种多面性,使我们有必要进一步澄清其逻辑地位。借用哈克、谢尔和陈波对逻辑系统的分析理论思考皮尔斯存在图的逻辑地位,认为存在图作为逻辑系统,是介于日常语言中直观有效的推理与逻辑系统中形式有效的推理之间的一种逻辑系统。
Pierce’s existential graphs,a typical graphical logic,have been incorporated into the category of philosophical logic by scholars.However,because Pierce did not finally complete the construction of the EG with an unclear description of his work,different interpretations of the diagram emerged successively among the scholars.This multifaceted nature of the EG makes it necessary to further clarify its logical status.Grounded upon the analysis of logical systems by Haack,Sher and Chen Bo,this paper argues that the EG is a logical system between intuitive and effective reasoning in everyday language and formally valid reasoning in formal logical systems.
