摘要
《大雅·崧高》是《诗经》中一首颇具代表性的长篇赞颂诗,作者以质朴明快的笔触歌颂了周宣王选贤授能、封赏功臣的明德,同时也褒扬了申伯勤勉笃行、辅佐周室的功绩。然而,对于“有俶其城,寝庙既成”一句中“俶”字的含义,前贤时修众说纷纭。其中,以毛亨、方玉润、马瑞辰、俞樾等为代表,先后形成了“作”“开始”“修缮”“厚”四种不同观点。比较众说,并结合前后文语义、“俶”的具体使用以及《诗经》的行文通例来看,“俶”即《说文》所释“善”义,而结合具体语境,“俶”又应理解为“高大、壮美”。
Great Mountains in the part of Court Hymn of The Book of Songs is a representative long poem.It praised King Xuan of Zhou for his wisdom and virtue in selecting the talents and promoting them for public service and also Shenbo’s achievements in defending the country.However,there are a lot of disputes about the meaning of the word“俶”(chu)in“you chu qi cheng(有俶其城)”in the history.Generally it can be summarized as zuo(作)by Mao Heng,shi(始)by Fang Yurun,shan(缮)by Ma Ruichen,and hou(厚)by Yu Yue.After a comprehensive study of these interpretations in the linguistic context and the general expressions of the poems,the interpretation of“chu(俶)”should be shan(善),as suggested by Xu Shen in Origin of Chinese Characters.In this specific context,“chu(俶)”should be understood as“high and magnificent”.
