摘要
作为结合跨案例分析与过程追踪这两类经典定性研究方法的多元方法,集合论多元方法以追求因果关系为目的,试图挖掘跨案例分析和过程追踪在集合论基础上结合的互补优势。集合论多元方法在方法论上的论证已经逐步成型,并在经验研究中得到初步使用,这进一步推动了定性研究方法的方法论自觉以及多元方法的丰富性。本文介绍集合论多元方法的概念、特征、发展脉络与操作,并探讨集合论多元方法对中国公共行政研究的潜在价值,藉此唤起国内研究者对这一方法以及定性研究方法的更多讨论与运用。
Being the multi-method combining cross-case analyses and process tracing,set-theoretic multimethod(set-theoretic MMR)aims to explore causal mechanism,by utilizing the advantages of integrating cross-case analyses and process tracing on the basis of set theory.Set-theoretic MMR has achieved the initial methodological discussion and empirical application,which help improve the methodology consciousness of qualitative method and the diversity of multimethod.Following the introduction of the definition,characteristic,context and operation of set-theoretic MMR,this article explores the potential contribution of this method to the existing public administration research in China,in order to attract further scholarly attention to this method and qualitative methods.
