摘要
本研究自建中国日报网上海合作组织青岛峰会英文报道语料库,探讨中国网络媒体主场外交活动英文报道对于中国国家形象构建的作用与影响。报道文本关键词分析表明,中国日报网(英文版)希望借助上合组织青岛峰会这一主场外交活动,向世界展现一个以和平利他为己任、促进世界和谐发展、具有人类命运共同体意识的担当大国形象。同时,本研究从平均词长与句长、词汇密度、类符/形符比三个方面分析报道的语言型式,发现部分语言特征不符合英语本族语者的阅读习惯。本研究建议,为更好构建国家形象,未来主场外交活动的英文报道应降低抽象名词的使用频率,减少形容词堆砌,多选用生动形象的动词,提高用词的多样性和灵活性。
By analyzing the news reports concerning Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO)Qingdao Summit on the China Daily website(English version)in the CDSCO Corpus,which was compiled by the authors,this study explores how news coverage of home-field diplomacy in China’s English network media facilitates the building of China’s national image.The keywords analysis shows that through reporting the SCO Qingdao Summit,China Daily website expected to build the positive image of China which regards the promotion of global peace and development as its own mission and strives to build a community of shared future for mankind.Meanwhile,the language patterns of the reports were analyzed from three aspects:mean word length and sentence length,lexical density and type-token ratio.It is found that some linguistic features of the reports in China Daily website(English version)do not meet the reading habits of native English speakers.Based on the above findings,this study suggests that the future English reports on home-field diplomatic activities should employ more vivid verbs,avoid excessive use of nouns and adjectives,and improve variety and flexibility of language expression.
