Illnesses are often metaphorical in literature works. In The Woman Warrior, the masterpiece of Chinese American literature, Maxine Hong Kingston has depicted metaphorical morbid figures in terms of insanity and aphasia, which reveals the problems of race, gender, class and other dimensions faced by Chinese American women and children. The morbid writing in Chinese American Women literature not only reflects the collective imagination of the mainstream white society towards Chinese and other minorities, but also expresses the efforts of minority groups to eliminate such stereotypes.
