摘要
唐宋時期,人們一般用傳記、雜傳、雜傳記來稱呼《霍小玉傳》等今人所説的傳奇作品,元明清時傳奇一詞則一般指稱戲曲文本,1920年代之後傳奇纔用以指稱一個小説類别。作爲古代小説之類别的傳奇,是在現代學術體系中建構出來的概念和文類,人們以現代的文學觀念、小説觀念以及審美趣味去審視、選擇古代材料,建構出傳奇的譜系和歷史。今人所謂傳奇的作品,其主體是傳奇性(體)傳記,另外又經擴大化加入小説中的篇段以及其他文體和文類的作品。而小説中的傳奇筆法和風格,違背了小説記見聞的寫作原則,清代學者多有批評。將傳奇理解爲一種風格和寫法,能更好地認識小説、傳記這兩大文類以及三者之間的關係。
In the Tang and Song dynasties,people generally used zhuan ji(biography),za zhuan(miscellaneous biography)and za zhuan ji(miscellaneous biography and record)to refer to legendary works such as The Biography of Huo Xiaoyu.In the Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasties,the word“chuan qi”generally refers to drama texts.After 1920,chuan qi was used to refer to a category of fictions.As a category of ancient fiction,chuan qi is a modern concept and genre constructed in the modern Chinese academic system.Scholars and people have distinguished and selected works and pieces of ancient books in terms of modern literary concepts,fiction concepts and aesthetic tastes to construct the genealogy and history of chuan qi.The main body of the works called chuan qi by today’s people is zhuan ji(biography).In addition,it has been enlarged to include pieces or works belonged to xiao shuo and other literary genres.The technique and style of chuan qi in the xiao shuo works violated the writing principle of xiao shuo that traditionally recording what was seen and heard,which was criticized by scholars in the Qing Dynasty.To understand chuan qi as a style and writing technique,we can better understand these two genres,xiao shuo and chuan qi and the relationships between them.
