摘要
"传记辞章化"是唐人传奇的核心文体特征。作者就其这一学术判断的历史维度和阐释效应加以申说。就历时态维度而言,六朝的文笔之辨凸显了辞章与子史的文类差异,一方面赋予了传记与辞章以不容混淆的特色,另一方面也使传记与辞章的融合成为可能,这一史实表明,"传记辞章化"只能发生于六朝之后,将传奇小说成熟的时代提早到六朝或六朝以前的说法缺乏充足的理由。就共时态维度而言,唐人传奇与韩柳古文兴盛于同一时期,两者孕育于共同的文学风尚并为这种文学风尚推波助澜,区别在于,唐人传奇是用辞章来改造"笔"中的传记,韩柳古文则是用辞章来改造"笔"中的论说。就阐释效应而言,"传记辞章化"立足于中国小说发展的历史情形,在阐释小说史时可以对唐人传奇与中唐古文运动的关系说得更加切题,可以避免"以西律律中国小说"的常见失误,也为分析宋元明的传奇提供了一个坐标或参照系,有助于划分传奇小说发展的世代并揭示不同世代的特征。
Combination of rhetorical devices of poetry and prose with biography,the core stylistic feature of the legends of Tang Dynasty,has been elaborated by the author of the paper.The paper is to further explain the historical dimension and elucidatory effect of this academic judgment.From the perspective of diachronic dimension,the distinction between'wen'and'bi'highlights the genre difference of'cizhang'(poetry and prose)and'zishi'(classics and history).On the one hand,biography and'cizhang'are regarded to be distinct;on the other hand,it is possible for the integration of biography and'cizhang'.This history of literature demonstrates that combination of rhetorical devices of poetry and prose with biography happened after the Six Dynasty.There are no sufficient reasons to consider maturity of legends at the time of Six Dynasty or even before.From the perspective of synchronic dimension,the legends of Tang Dynasty and the prose of Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan thrived in the same period,and they came from the same literary trend and made contribution to it.In other words,these two different styles implemented the same writing strategy,namely,the integration of'wen'and 'bi'.The difference is that the legends of Tang Dynasty used 'cizhang'to reform the biography of'bi',while the prose of Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan used'cizhang'to reform the comment of'bi'.in terms of the elucidatory effect,combination of rhetorical devices of poetry and prose with biography is based on the specific situation of the development of Chinese fiction,and it is more relevant when it comes to the connection of legends of Tang Dynasty and Ancient Prose Movement of middle Tang Dynasty.The idea avoids common mistake like using Western rules for Chinese novel and also provides a coordinate or reference to analyze huaben of Song Dynasty and medium-length legends of Yuan Dynasty,which also contributes to the division of the development of legendary novels and reveals their features in different era.
