摘要
《私刑者》是美国著名非裔小说家和评论家约翰·埃德加·怀德曼的转型之作,讲述了4个年轻的黑人知识分子为了给历史上因私刑死去的黑人报仇,密谋了一个私刑计划。本文从凝视的视角出发,探究《私刑者》中凝视带来的权力结构下的沉默现象。同时,进一步剖析怀德曼赋予沉默的文化和伦理的意义。怀德曼的沉默书写,不仅对非裔黑人探索民族出路有着积极作用,对人的自尊心和独立人格培养也有一定的借鉴意义。
The Lynchers is a transitional work of the famous African American novelist and critic John Edgar Wideman.It tells a story that four young black people conspired a lynching plan in order to avenge those blacks who died of lynching in history.From the perspective of gaze,this article aims to explore the silence under the power structure brought by gaze in The Lynchers.At the same time,it further analyzes the cultural and ethical significance of silence endowed by Wideman.Wideman's silent writing not only has a positive effect on African-American blacks'exploration of their national way,but also has to some extent a referential value for cultivation of people's self-esteem and independent.
