摘要
沉默主题是怀德曼文学创作的突出特征。他将美国非裔民族的沉默"历史语境化",揭示了被动沉默形成中的暴力规训本质和权力运作机制,折射出非裔民族在历史中的生存哲学。同时,非裔民族的主动沉默被"符号语境化",使得沉默作为语言符号具有充分的言说功能并成为从文化层面对抗强权的反抗策略。在他看来,被动沉默和主动沉默作为物质载体都承载了整个民族的伦理理想,进而赋予沉默终极意义,同时也使非裔的沉默蕴涵了人性和道德力量。怀德曼作为一位后现代主义大师,将其内涵丰富的沉默与后现代主义相融合,为美国黑人文学的丰富和发展做出了独特贡献。
Silence is the outstanding theme in John Wideman’s works.Wideman“historically contextualizes”African American’s silence,which reveals the nature of violence discipline and power operation mechanism in the formation of passive silence,and reflects African American’s survival philosophy in history.Meanwhile,African American’s active silence is“contextualized in semiotics”,which lends silence sufficient speech function and makes it a rebellious strategy against power from cultural perspective.In his view,as material carriers,both passive silence and active silence bear the entire nation’s ethical ideal,which gives silence the ultimate meaning with the power of human nature and morality being contained.As a master of postmodernism,Wideman integrates his silence with postmodernism and makes a unique contribution to the enrichment and development of African American literature.
