摘要
北美新移民文学作为华文文学创作的重镇,历经半个多世纪的发展成绩斐然,作为华语流散文学的一部分,其所具有的文化沟通和世界共情的艺术审美张力,都离不开母国文化的根。道家文化是中国传统文化的重要组成部分,深刻地影响了一代又一代中国人的思维方式和生活方式。作为北美新移民文学的重要代表,严歌苓作品的道家思想书写,在实现其个人价值的同时,也是其“寻根”之旅。以严歌苓的小说《扶桑》为例,探究小说《扶桑》中的三个人物——扶桑、大勇和克里斯,揭示出扶桑的“柔”与“善”、大勇的尊生顺死的生命观以及克里斯崇尚自由和自然的价值观,这些不仅是道家文化的具体表现,也展示出作家在自觉或不自觉地进行道家思想书写,三个人物形象散发出的人性光辉,具有的艺术审美张力都寄托了作者对原初生命形态的思考。
As an important part of the Chinese literature,the new immigrant literature in North America has made remarkable achievements after more than half a century’s development.As a part of Chinese diaspora literature,its cultural communication and aesthetic tension of empathy in the world are inseparable from the root of the mother country’s culture.Taoist culture is an important part of Chinese traditional culture,which has a profound impact on the way of thinking and life of Chinese generation after generation.Yan Geling’s works are an important representative of the new immigrant literature in North America.The Taoism in her works is not only a realization of her personal value,but also her journey of“root seeking”.Taking Yan Geling’s novel The Lost Daughter of Happiness as an example,this article explores Fusang,Dayong and Chris to reveal Fusang’s“softness”and“kindness”,Dayong’s view of respecting life and obeying death,and Chris’s values of advocating freedom and nature.These three characters are not only the manifestation of Taoist culture,but also the writer’s conscious or unconscious writing of Taoist thoughts.The brilliance of human nature and the artistic tension of the three characters are all endowed with the author’s thinking on the original life forms.
