摘要
驴子句是20世纪80年代以来西方语义学研究的热点问题之一,其不定名词短语具有全称量化意义这一语义难题构成了对传统形式语义学的挑战。形式语义学试图用E类代词理论和话语表述理论进行解释,但未能给驴子句作出统一解释。基于构式语法的语言观和构式压制理论,本研究认为驴子句的全称意义解读源于固化在语言使用者心智中的构式,其不定名词短语的全称量化意义是经由驴子句构式对其入构词项进行语义压制而成。
The donkey sentence is one of the hot topics in Western semantics since 1980s.The universal reading of its indefinite noun phrases poses a challenge to traditional formal semantics.Formal semantics proposes such theories as E-type Theory and Discourse Representation Theory to account for it,but they fails to give a unified explanation to donkey sentences.Based on the view of construction grammar and the theory of construction coercion,this study holds that the universal reading of donkey sentences originates from the construction entrenched in the mind of language users,and the universal reading of its indefinite noun phrases is formed by the semantic coercion by the donkey sentence construction.
