The four cases of The Human Face Tomb Guardian Beasts unearthed in Datong Shanxi in Pingcheng period all showed a"nod and bowed head"posture, which is more special than the"head up"type tomb beasts that appeared after the Northern Wei regime moved to Luoyang. The article starts from the Huren's face and the protrusions on the head of Human Face Tomb Guardian Beasts, explores the origin and symbols through the methods of stylistics and iconology. These features more or less make them related to"lead the soul to the sky."And the four Human Face Tomb Beasts'"nod-headed"posture may represent a meaning of surrender,a symbol of serving the owner of the tomb and helping his soul ascend to heaven.
