As independent, autonomous and public welfare social organizations, folk organizations of ethnic minorities play a role in promoting economic and social development, ethnic exchanges and interactions, and public services in ethnic areas. As a folk faith association of Bai women in Dali,Yunnan Province,“Lianchi Association”plays an irreplaceable role in inheriting village culture and promoting social harmony. The women of the“Lianchi society”have experienced different processes of gendered logic in their lives:with the marginalization of the role of the female physiological gender and the transition from the role of“housekeepers”to that of“idle people”,women have gradually moved from the power center of the family’s“private field”to the margin;however, with the help of the authority of“Lianchi society”in Buddha worship, women have changed from“old wives”to“old mothers”,realized the leap from the family to the village“public domain”,and successfully pulled themselves back to the center of power from the margin. The process of women’s back and forth changes between the“center and margin”of power and value is not only an important process of village women’s personal growthand“socialization”,but also a channel for women to pursue gender equality and break through the limitations of the traditional gender norm.
