In the pre-Qin period, traditional ritual culture prevailed across the central plains directly under the jurisdiction of the king.It had never been cast aside due to changes in political powers, and continued exchanging and colliding with cultures of neighboring ethnicities.Such exchanges and collisions did not cease but took the form of wars, which markedly reflected the relation between the ritual culture prevailed across the central plains and that of neighboring ethnicities.A battlefield witnessed wars occurred on it.Diachronic changes of battlefield sites dating back to mid Western Zhou clearly reflect how the borderland of Zhou stretched and shrank.Borderland’s state of flux profoundly influenced contemporary ethnic relations.
