摘要
格赖斯对意义的哲学思考起源于他对“说话人意图”的关注,意向性是人类心智的重要特征之一,也是贯穿格赖斯意义观的核心构念。通过剖析格赖斯对意义的相关论述,揭示出“说话人意图”是格赖斯意义分类、辨识和实现中的重要准绳。重视格赖斯意义理论中的意向性有助于进一步理解和探究他对意义研究的哲学初衷。格赖斯以“说话人意图”凸显其意向性意义观,既传承了逻辑分析哲学对语言哲学的贡献,也开拓了从心智哲学对意义进行探究的新视角。
Grice's meaning theory stems from his emphasis on“speaker's intention”.Intentionality is one of the most important characteristics of human mind,which is also a core construct in his meaning theory.Through an analysis of his theoretical elaboration on meaning,it is disclosed that“speaker's intention”is an essential criterion in the classification of different types of meaning,recognition and realization of“speaker's intention”in communication.Focusing on intentionality in his meaning theory is of great help to reveal Grice's initial philosophical concern and to understand his meaning theory.Grice is accredited for his meaning theory centering on“speaker's intention”,for it not only inherits from traditional logical analysis but also probes into meaning from a perspective of the philosophy of mind.
