Objective To study the application effect of 8S management mode in the management of external surgical instruments in supply room. Methods The 8S management mode had been implemented in our hospital since October 2018.Before the 8S management mode was implemented(from March to September 2018),300 packages(8957 pieces in total)of external surgical instruments were used as the control group, and after the 8S management mode was implemented(from October 2018 to April 2019),300 packages(9281 pieces in total)of external surgical instruments were used as the observation group. The preparation of external surgical instruments, wet pack rate and qualified rate of disinfection of packages were compared between the two groups. Results The rate of external mechanical pollution, damage, loss and wet bag of packages in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and there were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05).The qualified rate of equipment preparation and disinfection in the observation group was significantly higher than those in the control group, and there was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of 8S management mode in the management of external surgical instruments in the supply room is effective and can improve the management efficiency and management level.
