Objective To analyze the preventive effect of human granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor(hGM-CSF) gargle on radiation-induced oropharyngeal mucositis. Methods A total of 88 patients with head and neck malignant tumors treated by radiotherapy in our hospital were selected as research subjects. They were divided into the control group and the prevention group according to the random drawing method. The control group used normal saline + sodium bicarbonate gargle to clean the oral cavity, while the prevention group was treated with hGMCSF gargle on the basis of the control group, and the oral mucositis grading status, the time of occurrence of Ⅲ-Ⅳ degree radiation-induced oropharyngeal mucositis and the oropharyngeal pain score were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of oral mucosa in the prevention group was 82.22%, which was much lower than 97.67% in the control group, and the severity was lighter than that in the control group(P < 0.05). The appearance time of Ⅲ-Ⅳ degree radiation-induced oropharyngeal mucositis in the prevention group was later than that in the control group(P < 0.05). The oropharyngeal pain in the prevention group was much lighter than that in the control group(P < 0.05). Conclusion hGM-CSF gargle has a definite curative effect in preventing radiationinduced oropharyngeal mucositis, and it is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
