To achieve the goal of having an appropriate diet promoted by“Healthy China Action(2019—2030)”,it is urgent to carry out a more in-depth investigation into and research on the dietary structure and dietary style of the urban middle-class families from a sociological perspective.Dietary regimen is a way of practicing healthy living. With the improvement of living standards, people are no longer merely satisfied with how to“eating full”,but turn to pursue how to“eating well”.This transformational process is of great sociological significance.Through in-depth interviews with more than ten urban middle-class families focusing on the three factors:food safety panic, physical disease anxiety, and the pursuit of high-quality life,we investigated how they understood“eating well”in their daily food consumption. In addition, through the investigation into food purchase channels and food consumption methods,we also discussed the healthy practices in the food consumption of urban middle-class families. The healthy practices of an appropriate diet, this study argues, have become internalized as a dietary concept and a way of living of urban middle-class families.
