中庸、变通与仁爱——汤因比中国文明观中的儒家思想 被引量:4

摘要 中国儒家思想与道家思想互有你我,融合相通。从汤因比作品内容与态度来看,儒家与道家思想对其影响在伯仲之间,但仔细审视汤因比人生最后20年时光,其思想有朝着儒家倾斜的明显倾向。汤因比对中国儒家思想的理解与应用,主要体现在"中庸之道""变通之道""仁爱之道"三个方面。从早期将文明起源的"挑战-应战"理论架托于"中庸"之道,到中期对世界文明中心迁移的变通,再到后期将"仁爱"作为人类文明与"生物圈"唯一出路,都见证了汤因比对儒家思想的实践坚守,成为汤因比与儒家思想最主要的契合之处。 Chinese Confucianism and Taoism are mutually integrated and interlinked.Judging from the content and attitude of Toynbee's works,the influence of Confucianism and Taoism is much similar,but when carefully examining the last two decades of Toynbee's life,we find his thoughts tend to lean towards Confucianism.Toynbee's understanding and application of Chinese Confu⁃cianism are mainly reflected in the three aspects of“Moderation,Flexibility and Benevolence”.The early stage of setting up the“challenge-response”theory of the origin of civilization on the way of“Moderation”,the adaptation to the flexibility of the center of world civilization in the middle period,and then the later“Benevolence”as the only way out for human civilization and the“biosphere”,all witness Toynbee's adherence to the practice of Confucianism,which has become the main point of agreement to Confucianism.
