The importance of horticultural plants,which include vegetables,fruits,ornamentals,has been well-recognized.As an important part of ecosystem on earth,horticultural plants are necessary for lucid waters and lush mountains.Therefore,horticultural plant research is a key component of life sciences.For example,studies of the grapevine genome found that the gamma Whole-Genome Duplication(WGD)event(The French-Italian Public Consortium for Grapevine Genome Characterization,2007)is critical for the evolution of flowering plants(angiosperms).
