摘要
在西方学界对空间跨学科认知革新的背景下,列斐伏尔的“空间三一论”视空间为积淀意识形态的主体,完成了空间的多维辩证思考。“空间三一论”提出,空间乃“表征空间”、“空间表征”和“空间实践”三者构成的辩证统一体。“表征空间”指生活空间,是居住者使用的物理空间;“空间表征”属构想空间,是由社会空间秩序制定者构想和规划而成,规定着“空间实践”;而“空间实践”则是日常生活的体现,在“空间表征”的渗透和制约下,“空间实践”常常体现为规约的空间行为,但不排除对规约的逾越。文章以美国黑人女作家格洛丽亚·内勒的小说《林顿山》为例,具体阐释列斐伏尔的“空间三一论”。《林顿山》凸显位于公墓旁的白房子(带地下停尸房)的“表征空间”,向居于其中的黑人女性强加种族主义与性别主义“空间表征”的规训。“空间表征”的影响可能对“表征空间”的居住者造成两种截然相对的“空间实践”。一种是顺应型的“空间实践”;另一种是挑战型的“空间实践”。前四代纳德夫人皆以不同的方式臣服于纳德家族的“空间表征”,属于顺应型“空间实践”;而第五代纳德夫人公薇拉则从发出喊叫、自我的觉醒、修复“无脸”女性,到烧毁白房子,接连四次试图挣脱纳德家族“空间表征”的束缚,进行挑战性“空间实践”,并成功逾越父权“空间表征”。列斐伏尔的“空间三一论”中,空间并非线性时间叙事的替代品,而是充满了现实生活中的意识形态,并能动地界定、阐释、改变社会关系甚至政治结构的主体,如小说中逼仄的地下室在规训薇拉对纳德家族“空间表征”的同时,也反讽性地激发了她的反叛,并最终促成她对其的超越。列斐伏尔突破了西方哲学史上对空间的二元认知,发现事物存在的三维辩证法则,提出空间中三者
Against the background of interdisciplinary understanding of space in the West, Henry Lefebvre’s "spatial traid" is definitely a fundamental one. It regards space as the subject actively integrating ideologies and dialectically conducting multidimensional thinking. The theory holds that every experience is comprised of three interrelated aspects of space: representation of space, spatial practice, and space of representation. The "space of representation" is the specific space of inhabitant controlled by the users. And the "representation of space" is a conceptualized space constructed out of symbols, codifications and abstract representations, which is formulated by the dominant social group to discipline the "spatial practice" of social members. The final aspect, the "spatial practice", based on the specific "space of representation", acts in accordance with the requirements of the "representation of space" but is also open to the transcending practice. This paper intends to use an American black woman writer Gloria Naylor’s novel Linden Hills to illustrate this theory. In Linden Hills, Naylor highlights the Nedeeds’ big white clapboard house with a basement near the graveyard as a representative of the "space of representation". The basement, dwelled by the Nedeeds’ wives, enforcing "representation of space", embodies racism and sexism of the Nedeeds’ on the dwellers. The influence of the "representation of space" may result in two opposite kinds of "spatial practice"for the inhabitants of the "space of representation". One is the disciplined "spatial practice", based on the users’ obedience and adoption to the social rules of the strong social groups. The other is the challenged one,based on the users’ deviation from the social protocol. Of the five generations of the Nedeeds’ wives, the first four carry out the disciplined "spatial practice" in their different ways, while the fifth one,Willa challenges it.Consecutively for four times, she has tried to break up the bondage of the Nedeeds’ "s
