Known as the Argentina Dirty War, the 1970 s and 1980 s is considered the darkest period in the country’s history. Till now, many literary works still reflect on the indelible trauma which the Argentina society has been suffering from. From the perspective of trauma theories, this article studies the trauma shown in the "Dirty War novels" published from the 1990 s onwards, analyzes the mechanism of the trauma, that is, how the victims are "fixed" to the past and the witnesses suffer from the unfinished mourning, interprets the intergenerational transmission of trauma presented in the postmemory novels, which is specifically reflected in the identity crisis suffered by the victims’ descendants, as well as their retrospective journey aiming at repairing the trauma and the fracture of the intergenerational relationship, and explores the narrative strategies reproducing the traumatic memory, such as the "hidden presence" of the traumatic events and the fragmentary narrative.
