摘要
词汇是语言学习与应用的基石,在专门用途的语言交际中,词汇使用不当可能导致交际障碍。本文以自建法律英语语料库及LOB语料库作为数据来源,通过定量统计与定性分析对比英语法律语篇和平衡语料的词汇应用特征,以期为法律ESP教学与应用提供参考。研究发现法律英语语篇中的词汇应用更集中化,但较之平衡语料,词型差异也更大。从主题词特征上看,法律英语语篇应用了大量专业性词汇和古体词,在连词和情态动词的使用上也异于平衡文本。
Vocabulary is the cornerstone of language learning and application. In English for special purposes,improper use of vocabulary may lead to style abnormality or communication barrier. This present study takes selfbuiltcorpus of legal English texts and LOB corpus as data sources, and compares the Lexical Features of Englishlegal discourse and balanced texts through quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis, in order to providereference for legal ESP teaching and application. The present study finds that the vocabulary application in legalEnglish discourse is more centralized, but its word type is of more difference than that of balanced texts. From theperspective of keywords, legal English discourse applies a large number of professional vocabulary and ancientwords;the use of conjunctions and modal verbs is also different from balanced text.
