精英大学中的“寻游者”——关于布尔迪厄“文化资本理论”的另一种言说 被引量:6

The Lost Seeker in Elite Universities——A Different Way on Bourdieu’s Cultural Capital Theory

摘要 运用扎根理论方法对6位大学生成为"寻游者"的历程进行调查。研究发现,这些身处或曾经身处精英大学的学生,经历了从"曾经的优等生""象牙塔中的成长与试误""另一个圈子的突围与拒斥""心灵的栖息地在哪里"四个阶段的蜕变过程。这些改变提示我们,需要对精英教育中的自由选择与新媒介娱乐的冲突、场域的争夺与边缘化、中上阶层子女对主流文化的顺应与背离进行反思。 Bourdieu proposes the concept of "cultural capital"and believes that it is easier for people with cultural capital to achieve academic success and social integration. However,there is a group of people,named lost seekers in elite universities. Born in middle-class family with cultural capital,they do not match Bourdieu’s theory. On the contrary,they are frustrated,confused and degraded in elite universities. This study takes six college students who are or have been in elite universities as research object,applies the grounded theory research to code and analyze the process and stories behind them. The result of research shows as a story line,including "excellent students";"growth and lost in the ivory tower";"the breakout and rejection of another circle";"where the habitat of the soul is". It discusses the conflict between free choice in the elite education and the entertainment,the competition and marginalization of the field,the subjectivity and deviation of the middle-class children from the mainstream culture.
