摘要
芝加哥大学是一所底蕴厚重、闻名遐迩的世界一流大学。自1891年创建以来,该校在诸多领域都做出了杰出贡献,为全球培养了一大批优秀人才,其中包括91位诺贝尔奖得主。在所有的获奖领域及学科中,芝加哥大学以经济学见长,执全球之牛耳,被誉为诺贝尔奖经济学奖得主的"摇篮"。此外,芝加哥大学还诞生了两位世界著名的大学校长--哈珀、哈钦斯,以及世界著名的哲学家兼教育家--杜威,并形成了享誉全球的"芝加哥学派"。2019年5月,应邀参加芝加哥大学举办的"过去与现在--纪念杜威访华100周年教育论坛"。借此机会,不仅实地考察了杜威创建的实验学校,而且通过调研与访谈,领略了芝加哥大学的办学历史与当代风貌,对该校的成功"秘诀"有了初步判断:大学校长发挥的作用和芝加哥学派的形成是芝加哥大学取得成功的关键。
The University of Chicago is a world-class university with rich heritage and reputation.Since its founding in 1891,it has made outstanding contributions in many fields and has trained a large number of outstanding talents for the world,including 91 Nobel Prize winners.Meanwhile,it has been honored as the cradle of Nobel laureates in economics as it boasts the largest number of Nobel Prize winners in economics.In addition,there were two world-renowned university presidents as well as one famous philosopher and educator named Dewey that once worked in this university,and the world-renowned "Chicago School" was also formed here.In May 2019,the author was invited to attend the "Centennial Colloquium on Dewey:Then and Now".After attending the colloquium,he conducted a field trip to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools,and learned the history and contemporary style of the university through document analysis and interview.As a result,the author has made a preliminary judgment on how the university made itself into a world-class university within a relatively short period.
