摘要
在"五四"新青年与林纾展开的新旧论争中,与文字的"文白/死活"这一"显性"的论争焦点相比,"孝"则是双方论争的"隐性"焦点。在"五四"新青年对"非孝"的提倡和林纾对"孝"的捍卫中,呈现出"表"与"里"、"新"与"旧"的驳杂特征。重新梳理这一思想论争,有助于我们深刻理解道德传统观念艰难的蜕变过程以及在这一过程中革命者和卫道者的所见和所弊,以此观照和思索我们当下的立场和取舍。
In the disputes between the school of "New Youth" and Lin Shu during the May 4^th Movement, the vernacular movement is the obvious focus, and filiality is comparatively the hidden argument. The school of the "New Youth" criticizes the old moral values and advocates the family revolution, which represents the strong desire for modern ideas, but "the old" are still inside the depths of the soul and are reflected in the actual behaviors. In contrast,"the new" has emerged in Lin Shu s opinion when he defends the traditional morality. Deeply understanding the transformation of filiality during the May 4^th Movement can help us to consider our present position and make intelligent trade-offs.
