摘要
禅修旅游的丰富实践使研究者不断思考“什么是禅修旅游”的问题,但因组织者和活动内容的复杂性,尚未达成共识。从禅修二字的词源出发,通过梳理国内外禅修旅游的现有概念及其它相关概念,明确了禅修旅游的宗教意涵,建立起了以精神性体验为核心的界定方式,即禅修旅游是参与者以寻找真我体验为目的,以参与坐禅活动为主要形式,在原真或仿真的宗教氛围中获得独特体验的过程。本定义从参与者体验的角度解析禅修旅游,搁置了因组织者差异导致的概念争论,为在不同国家及社会背景下准确理解禅修旅游的内涵提供了新的思路。
Abstract: As an escape from reality, Zen meditation tourism, such as meditation tour route, meditation camp and so on, is prevailing in China recently. There are different kinds of activities and organizers involved in it, which makes Zen meditation tourism a fuzzy concept both in practice and research. In order to promote related researches, the concept of Zen meditation tourism needs to be clarified.Current concepts of Zen meditation tourism in China show two distinctive directions. One emphasizes meditation and consider Zen meditation tourism a religious experience, while the other highlights tourism and regards it a daily leisure activity. Compared to China, Zen meditation tourism in foreign countries is often known as one tourism product of religious tourism, health tourism or spiritual tourism. No matter how diversified these definitions are, the religiousness of Zen meditation tourism is not denied. Instead, they show the interaction between the sacred and the secular, stressing the spirituality that participants get from the experience. The spiritual experience stems from the spiritual pursuit motivation of tourists.Traditional pilgrims pilgrim for spiritual needs. They are eager to change their lives by experiencing something different, or visit the extraordinary places of imagination to express their deep religious values. Popular pilgrims are non-religious, but their motives are related to personal development and happiness, as well as spirituality.Furthermore, the context of Zen meditation tourism also drives the generation of spiritual experience. The absence of outside world during meditation allows participants to concentrate on physical and spiritual feelings in self-interaction process, which even helps to transform secularized sightseeing to a pilgrimage.Spiritual experience consists the core of Zen meditation tourism, and Zen meditation tourism is actually a self-searching process that participants get mainly by sitting in meditation in authentic or simulate surroundings.
