摘要
本研究以301名大学英语学习者为研究对象,探讨了大学英语学习者词汇知识广度与阅读理解之间的关系。研究结果表明:(1)英语词汇知识广度与阅读理解成显著正相关;(2)词汇广度处于2000和3000词汇水平的英语学习者在阅读理解上体现出显著差异,而2000以下与2000词汇水平、3000与5000词汇水平均无显著差异;(3)英语阅读理解较差者的词汇广度主要集中在2000及以下词汇水平,而较强者则在3000词汇水平及以上。
This empirical study has explored the relationships between breadth of vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension in English by taking 301 college English learners as the research objects. The results suggest that (1) scores on vocabulary size and reading comprehension are positively correlated;(2) the performance of reading comprehension is significantly different between the 2000 and 3000 vocabulary level groups but none of the differences is significant between below- 2000 and 2000, or 3000 and 5000 vocabulary level groups;(3) as for the bad-performers of reading comprehension, the breadth of vocabulary knowledge ranged mainly from below 2000 to 2000 level, while good-performers mainly from 3000 to 5000 level.
