摘要
词汇是文本风格的重要表现层面。本文以哈里斯英译唐诗《长恨歌》与《石鼓歌》为例,借助语料分析软件和在线平台,对两首译诗中的高频词汇构成、词汇难度、连词使用频率及意象内涵表现方式进行了比较分析,探讨了译者的传译词汇风格的策略、动机及其效果。文章认为,译者有较强的跨文化交流意识,译者在适当顾及目标读者阅读需求的基础上,选用了合适的词汇翻译策略,比较忠实地传达了原作的风格。
Vocabulary plays an important role in manifesting the style of a discourse. Taking “Song of Lasting Regret” and “Song of the Stone Drums” translated by Peter Harris as examples, this paper makes a comparative study on the constitution of high-frequency vocabulary, the level of vocabulary difficulty, the usage of conjunctions, and the translation of image words in the two poems, with the help of corpus-analysis software and online platform, aiming to discover the translator’s strategies and motives in style transmission. It is concluded tat the translator shows a strong desire for cross cultural communication, who adopts suitable strategies in choosing vocabulary to express the original style faithfully, while meeting the target readers’ expectation when necessary.
