摘要
从多个角度来看,英语作为全球通用语的地位业已确立;在信息时代,世界各国均向英语输送信息的千条江河归大海般的语言信息地貌也已基本形成。掌握英语就掌握了获取信息时代珍贵资源的重要手段,熟练掌握英语的人口比例高对于国家来说具有重要的战略意义。因此,加强英语教学应是正确的战略选择。笔者认为,加强英语教学应当走英语专业人才培养规格多样化的道路;应当重视人文素养培育的专业特征;鉴于学习英语的战略意义和我国的发展前景,对适于全面提高学生人文和科学素养、培养专业兴趣的英语专业实行"关停并转"并非明智之举。
Multi-perspective studies tend to prove the establishment of English as global lingua franca. In the information age, the topography of rivers of information in various other languages flowing into the sea of English has also been formed. Mastering English has everything to do with mastering the means of acquiring the most precious resources of information, and having enough English-efficient population is of great strategic importance. Therefore, reinforcing English teaching should be the correct strategic choice. We believe that strengthening English teaching should take the road of diversification of the specifications of English majors;we should hold to the disciplinary characteristics of humanistic cultivation;in view of the strategic significance of learning English and the development prospect of our country, it might not be wise to shut down English departments or reduce English majors since they facilitate students’ humanistic, scientific cultivation and professional interest.
