摘要
柏拉图认为,立法应着眼于教育而非惩罚。立法首先旨在造就好公民,但教育的最高目的并非培养好公民,而是培养完美之人。因此,教育的重点不应是职业教育,而是德性教育,德性教育的关键首先在于培养恰切的苦乐感和节制。立法者在为城邦设计法律时,应注重训练人的苦乐感与理性取得一致。只有展开充分的德性教育,最终才能培养出好的王者和立法者。
Plato thinks that legislation should focus on education rather than punishment.Although legislation aims at the cultivation of good citizen,the ultimate purpose of education,however,is the cultivation of perfect man.Therefore,the key point of education is by no means vocational education,but education in virtue.Education should emphasize cultivating sensibilities in pain and pleasure and the virtue of moderation.Accordingly,when legislators establish laws for the city,they should pay attention to the training of the sensibility of pain and pleasure so as to comply with reason.Cultivating good kings and legislators is based on fully carrying out this education in virtue.
