摘要
《为中国文化敬告世界人士宣言——我们对中国学术研究及中国文化与世界文化前途之共同认识》特别凸显了心性之学的重要性。虽然后来学界对这种过于抬高心性之学的倾向提出了批评,但这并不能掩盖现代新儒家第二代在心性之学研究方面做出的贡献。牟宗三早期较为关注政治问题,但中期和晚期的精力都集中在心性之学方面。牟宗三心性之学研究始终贯穿着三个问题意识,即活动问题、流弊问题、存有问题。所谓活动问题是指一种道德学说如何能够具有动能的问题,与之相应牟宗三提出了活动论;所谓流弊问题是指如何杜绝心学走向弊端的问题,与之相应牟宗三提出了形著论;所谓存有问题是指道德之心除决定个人成德成善之外,对宇宙万物能否以及如何发生影响的问题,与之相应牟宗三提出了存有论。为解决这些问题牟宗三付出了一生的努力,提出了很多极有价值的观点,但也留下了一些问题亟待后人解决。
A Manifesto on the Reappraisal of Chinese Culture:Our Joint Understanding of the Sino-logical Study Relating to World Cultural Outlook highlighted the importance of the theory of xin-xing(心性).Although the academia criticized this tendency which overemphasized the theory of xin-xing later,it couldn t obscure the contribution of the second generation of modern Neo-Confucianism to the research of the theory of xin-xing.Mou Tsung-san paid more attention to political issues in his early days,but in his middle and later days he concentrated on the theory of xin-xing.Mou Tsung-san s theory of xin-xing is always consistent with three issues,the problem of activity,the problem of corruption,and the problem of ontology.The first one refers to how a moral doctrine can have its dynamic;correspondingly Mou Tsung-san put forward the doctrine of activity.The second one refers to how to keep xin-xue(the school of mind)from corruption;correspondingly Mou Tsung-san put forward the doctrine of manifestation.The third one refers to the fact that moral mind not only determines the individual moral success but also whether and how it can affect everything in the universe;correspondingly Mou Tsung-san put forward the doctrine of ontology.In order to solve these problems,Mou Tsung-san made a lifelong effort and put forward a lot of valuable ideas,but he also left some problems waiting for urgent solutions by future generations.
