Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of CD34,matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-9,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)in giant cell tumor of bone(GCTB),so as to provide clinical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of GCTB.Methods A total of 80 patients with GCTB treated from January 2010 to January 2017 were enrolled in this study. The expression of CD34,MMP-9,VEGF and PCNA in these patients was assayed by immunohistochemistry staining, and relations of expression of CD34,MMP-9,VEGF,PCNA with age, gender, tumor size,Jaffe grading and prognosis were analyzed. Results Positive expression of CD34,MMP-9,VEGF and PCNA showed no significant correlation with age or gender for GCTB patients, while levels of CD34,MMP-9,VEGF and PCNA were related to tumor size,Jaffe grading and prognosis;CD34 levels showed positive correlation to the expression of MMP-9,VEGF and PCNA(r=0.311,0.424,0.401;P=0.015,0.025,0.025).Conclusion CD34,MMP-9,VEGF,PCNA play important roles in the development and progression of GCTB,examination of expressions of these cytokines have certain clinical significances for the diagnosis and prognosis of GCTB.
