This paper gives comment on the six authorative Chinese translated texts of a soliloguy of the Life and Death of Richard Ⅲ by W. Shakespeare. For want of the understanding of Shakespeare’s brevity and being unable to use their native language correctly, the translators lose themselves in verbiage characteristics of the original. Here the author proposes a new translation method of Shakespeare’s drama in verse, that is, one English syllable is changed into one Chinese character with only one syllable. At the same time he does his best to keep up correspondence between the Chinese version and the original both in the structure of sentences and in the meaning of words so as to ensure the reappearance of Shakespeare’s rich and bright colours and the artistic styles.
