摘要
本文提出三个思考的方向讨论医疗史与中国"现代性"问题。第一点是从时序上谈论"近代"中医学知识体系在西学冲击下的变化。第二点是西方的"近代"医疗制度的复杂及独特历史背景,以及近年西方学者对这段包括殖民医学在内的西方"近代性"的批判。第三点是从中国本身的历史传统去追溯、甚至定义其"现代性/近代性"的可能性。本文的目的是希望说明我们只有摆脱长久以来以西方历史经验为标准的"近代"史观,才能重新思考中国的"近代性",而从医疗史的角度去探讨这个问题是有效的。
The problem of history of Medicine and China's'modernity'is discussed from three perspectives:1). changes of'modern'TCM(tradition Chinese Medicine)knowledge impacted by the Western learning in different peri- ods of time;2).complex and unique historical background of'modern'Western medical system and recent Western scholars' critiques of Western'modernity'including colonial medicine;and 3).possibility of location of,even defini- tion of,China's'modernity'from her own historical tradition.This paper tries to prove that China's'modernity'can not be retraced propedy until the lasting'modern'historical perspective based on Western historical experience is shaken off.It is suggested that it may be an efficient way to approach this problem from history of medicine.
