The paper briefly describes the importance of casting quality effected by molding sand properties.Some molding sand property testirg instrtm- ents are also referred.The construction and the testing principle of molding sand shearing deformation testing instrument are introduced emphatically.And the shearing strength and deformation limit,effected by the bentonite content and compactibility of molding sand well as the α starch,are stressed.
