翻译批评主体的多元性特点分析——从阿诺德与纽曼的论战谈起

摘要 翻译批评主体具有多元性特点。译者和从事翻译批评的专家分别是翻译批评的隐性主体和显性主体,在多语能力、理论修养、逻辑思维水平以及文字驾驭等方面所具备的优势,让他们所作的翻译批评具有高度的专业性和权威性,也让他们毋庸置疑地成为翻译批评的中坚力量。囿于专业知识的欠缺,普通读者虽然也属翻译批评的显性主体,却存在着天然不足。但这个批评主体具有泛在性特点,庞大的群体、全面的视角、"亲民"的质询等,使得他们成为翻译批评的"第三只眼"。鼓励更多普通读者参与翻译批评,当更能促进翻译事业的健康发展。 Subjects in translation criticism are characterized by diversity. Translators and authorities on translation criticism are respectively implicit and overt subjects of translation criticism. Superiority in multilan- guage, theoretical preparation, logic thinking, as well as diction skills helps make their work exceed in profes- sionalism and authority, which makes them undoubtedly the essential force in this line. Though overt subject, ordinary readers show inherent limits in translation criticism for lack of professional knowledge. Nevertheless, they are characterized by their pervasiveness. Huge group, comprehensive views and inquiries intimate with average persons make them "the Third Eye" in translation criticism. More readers should be encouraged to par6cipate in translation criticism so as to accelerate the development of translation.
