摘要
天津博物馆收藏的"新建养病院碑"记录了近代天津西式医疗机构—"总督医院"(俗称马大夫医院)的建设过程。作为重要的物证和史料,该碑虽然简单记载了英国伦敦会传教士马根济在天津行医和参与建立"总督医院"的事迹,但是碑文主要内容却是歌颂李鸿章在医院建设过程中的作用。马根济与该院关系到底如何?本文将结合天津博物馆藏有关文物和文献资料,探究以马根济为代表的伦敦会医学传教士是如何通过影响李鸿章等中国社会上层人物,促进天津西式医疗机构建设的起步和不断发展的。
The ＂Construction of a Hospital＂ Stele collected in Tianjin Museum recorded the historical facts of the English medical missionary John Kenneth Mackenzie practicing as a doctor and constructing the Hospital of Viceroy in Tianjin and illustrated Mackenzie＇s great contribution to Tianjin＇s modern medical and health education system. Based on related objects and documents from the Tianjin Museum collection, this article explores the process that London medical missionaries like Mackenzie influenced Chinese upper class such as Li Hongzhang and promoted the development of western medical institution in modern Tianjin.
