Cities undergoing development have faced conflicts between traditional cities and modern life. The Greater London is skilled in renovating and transforming ancient buildings which have lost the original function rather than build large numbers of high-rise buildings, to meet the modern accommodation needs and commercial expansion of modern society and then achieve sustainable urban regeneration. While the high housing prices and public complaints about the city since 2000 have sparked a discussion about whether the Greater London urban regeneration is sustainable. This article mainly focuses on the cultural and environmental protection, the economic and social development requirements, the population change demand to carry on the dialectical analysis about has the Greater London achieved sustainable urban regeneration since 2000? It is hoped to provide the reference for the sustainability in urban regeneration and the harmonious symbiosis between historical sites and modern cities.
