摘要
孟子是最早被介绍到欧洲的哲学家之一,《孟子》则是最早被翻译到欧洲的中国典籍之一。孟子及其哲学思想在西方学术界乃至整个人类历史上占有重要地位。通过对《孟子》英译本和西方学界有关孟子哲学思想文献的研读、整理和分析,结合美国访学期间的调研,探讨了孟子主要哲学思想,如天命、人性、伦理等,在西方学界的传播和接受状况,为中西方文化交流搭建桥梁,促进中国文化的传承和自身价值的提升。
Mencius was one of the first Chinese philosophers introduced to Europe, and his eponymous work Mencius is one of the first Chinese classics whose translation versions have achieved their fame in Europe. Mencius philosophy has been playing a very important role in western academic circles and even the history of mankind. By studying and analyzing the English versions of Mencius and papers on Mencius philosophy published in the western world, and the data from surveys taken in America, the spread and acceptance of Mencius philosophy such as uTianming, “ humanity” and u ethics^ is illustrated and discussed thoroughly in this paper. It intends to bridge Sino - American cultures and promote the inheritance of Chinese culture and the value of China.
