Based on the documents and writings concerning the event of discovery of New World, the author points out the fact that cognition of some commonsense-based historical facts is closely associated with the writing in- volved. Christopher Columbus and diaries and letters, adventures, but the are not simply demonstration other explorers' writings, including their their personal records of the voyages and of values through representing the geo-graphic features and the ethnic groups of the New World. Such only shaped the way how Europeans observe the New World, filled their imagination and expectation of the New World. What's writings laid the foundation for the definition of the abori barbarian others, based on which the occupation and the wrmngs not but also ful- more, these ginal groups as the hierarchy of civili- zations are confirmed and legalized. Therefore the writing itself is an inevitable part of the historical event. Within the complicated geopolitical situation, cul- tural geography can serve as a meaningful approach to issues such as identity, ideology, ethnicity in space and reproduction of international order. In this way, the co-relation between knowledge and conception can be better re- vealed and analyzed during the reconstruction of historical events and issue-o- riented research.
