摘要
商务印书馆作为近代中国史上第一家现代意义上的出版机构,以"昌明教育,开启民智"为己任,不仅竭力传承中国文化,而且长期秉持"介绍西方文化"的宗旨,默默致力于近代思想启蒙工作,始终与中国现代文化转型与知识分子求索同呼吸、共命运,创造了中国文化出版事业的辉煌,在近代中国文化社会转型中扮演了十分重要的角色。一个多世纪以来,在历代出版人和知识分子的不断努力下,商务印书馆出版了大量学术名著,从创办《世界丛书》到《汉译世界名著丛书》,从出版《林译小说丛书》到《严译名著丛刊》,硕果累累、影响深远,逐渐成为近代西学东渐、传播西学、开启民智的文化平台和学术高地。商务印书馆翻译出版的学术名著,承载了一代又一代中国出版人的文化使命,推动了一代又一代中国知识分子思考现代文化转型的不懈追求,成为中国近代思想启蒙的重要推手。
As the first modern publishing agency in modern Chinese history, Commercial Press plays an important role in the cultural and social transformation, which takes "developing education and enlightening the mass" as its own duty and endeavors for the succession of Chinese culture, the introduction of western culture and the modern ideological enlightenment. Keeping in step with modern cultural transformation and Chinese intellectuals, seeking, Commercial Press has achieved a great achievement in Chinese cultural publishing. In the past more than one century, because of the efforts made by the publishers and intellectuals for generations, many academic readings were published by Commercial Press, including World Series, Chinese Translation Series of the World Classics, Lin Shu's Translation of Novels, Yan Fu's Translation of Classics and so on. Commercial Press gradually has become the cultural platform and academic height for its great achievement and profound influence in spreading western culture and enlightening the mass. With the cultural mission of Chinese publishers for generations, the academic books published by Commercial Press has promoted the cultural transformation and ideological enlightenment in modern China.
