Objective To explore the effects of peer education on blood glucose index, quality of life and compliance of patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 224 chronic hepatitis C patients with diabetes were enrolled in this study, 112 patients in the study group and 112 in the control group. The study group adopted a peer ed- ucation intervention model and the control group was given routine care. The glycemic hemoglobin, SF-36 scale and treatment compliance questionnaire were used to evaluate the blood glucose control, quality improvement of quality of life and the compliance of treatment. Results The level of HbA1 c in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0. 05 ). The physiological function, physiological function, health status, vigor, social function, mental health and emotional function were all significantly higher than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P〈0. 05). After intervention, the scores of treat- ment compliance indexes in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P〈0. 01 ). Conclusions The model of peer education in chronic hepatitis C patients with diabetes can significantly control blood sugar, improve the quality of life of patients and improve the compliance of treat- ment, and play a positive role in the prognosis of chronic hepatitis C patients.
