The Yumidong (Corn Cave) Site located in the inmost area of the Three Gorges region of the Yangtze River was formally excavated in 2013, by which two fire-using features were recovered and thousands of stone products and mammal fossils were unearthed. The 15 cultural layers identified in the excavation had clear stratigraphic relationships, all of which yielded stone products and mammal fossils. The stone products unearthed in the excavation were mostly tools made of local fetched blanks by retouching the edges. The dating data of the Layers 2 to 4 were 8-400 ka BP. The accumulations of this site were formed uninterruptedly, showing that it was a camp residential site repeatedly used for long period.
